I had never used Twitter until enrolling in this class, therefore Twitter is a completely new experience for me. I understand the purpose and how it circulates trending information within social circles that are subscribed to Twitter. I have been tweeting with several classmates regarding many different topics and have found that this is a common way to express a topic instantly to a group of people or a single person. I believe it can be a useful form of communication in my future career as a digital tool that allows for instant communication of trending topics related to just about anything.
The digital divide significantly impacts the success of students in schools due to the disparity that exists among students that have access to computers and internet in comparison to those students who do not have access to computers and the internet. It puts the students that lack access at a disadvantage on many levels. Some causes are due to the lack of resources that rural schools experiences as opposed to urban schools that are surrounded by digital technology. As a teacher I will be aware of these access issues and work with students and their available resources to accommodate learning and homework assignments. Classes were held before the evolution of technology and education will continue to mold brilliant minds with whatever resources are available.
As a teacher of elementary education students academic software such as educational games, encyclopedias and other educational tools is important because it enhances the learning experience for students, it allows teachers to use technology for assignments and interactive learning. A desk top publishing software I intend to use to communicate with students and parents regarding learning activities and information regarding important information that parents need to be aware of. Software that I expect to use the least is photo shop or photo styling software due to the safety and privacy of elementary age students.
